Valentine’s Day only exists in its modern form to sell cards and chocolates at an otherwise slow time of the year. We really don’t have any other major holidays between Christmas/New Year’s and Easter (yes St Patrick’s Day but you don’t really buy gifts/candy as much for that) I’ve never understood Valentine’s Day. It’s like why do we celebrate a day where people feel obligated to go out of there way and show appreciation for their SO. If they’re truly happy and right, shouldn’t they be able to feel and show that appreciation all the time? Plus i feel like Valentine’s Day just takes away from anniversaries. A day dedicated solely to spending time with those closest to us, expressing our appreciation with gifts, and treating one another to a fancy meal sounds like what the world needs right now. Valentine’s Day isn’t always like that in reality. But although it’s not without its flaws, the majority of criticism it faces is unfair.
