Valentine’s Day only exists in its modern form to sell cards and chocolates at an otherwise slow time of the year. We really don’t have any other major holidays between Christmas/New Year’s and Easter (yes St Patrick’s Day but you don’t really buy gifts/candy as much for that) Valentine's Day leaves people in relationships with impossible expectations and leaves single people out. Let's face it: Valentine's Day might actually be the worst. Even if you aren't single on Valentine's Day is the one day of the year that you're expected to be better looking, a better lover, a more fascinating conversationalist, the buyer of the perfect gift, and the planner of the Well Valentine's Day is what you make of it. I show my fiance love and respect every single day, but Valentine's is just more of an excuse to indulge on food if anything. Like we don't get each other needlessly expensive flowers or fancy chocolate. I don't even like chocolate, I just get my fiance a chocolate bar from Target. I think it's stupid to have one day focused on showing love, when you could do that every single day. The even bigger problem: it is far too commercial.
