This is particularly necessary as some view Thanksgiving as a day of mourning. It may have had beginnings in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, which celebrated the coming of spring and included fertility rites and other activities, but the origin of the holiday is vague at best. Most people believe February 14th was the day Saint Valentine was martyred, therefore, why we celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th. Through my research, I found it is fine for Christians to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Maybe, I should start a Black Love Day for us to love ourselves and take care of ourselves." This birth was January 1, 1993 in Washington D. C., and the first Black Love Day was launched at the Mayor's Office on 3rd Street, N.W. as a wholistic health fair and alternative to Valentine's Day.
