It doesn't take much extra effort to observe Valentine's Day (like I said before, you don't need expensive chocolate to have a nice night). The point is, it appears he is making an effort to avoid the day, more effort than it takes to just do something nice. I used to do things for my wife on VD. Then; one year; 2 days before VD we lost an important person in our lives which resulted in us not even realizing that the day was apon us for years . Valentine's doesn't have to mean spending a ton of money. It's literally just a day to show the people you love that you care. What the f--k could possibly be wrong with that? A card. A plate of I was always triggered around Valentine’s Day when they didn’t plan or get me anything. I realize it’s a dumb holiday but when they made zero effort the other 364 days, you hope that maybe on Valentine’s Day, when there are boxes of chocolate or bouquets of flowers front and center at every grocery store, they’ll do SOMETHING. An entire day dedicated to declaring your love for someone? If you’re casually hooking up or in a new relationship, Valentine’s Day can be awkward. The reality is you may not be ready to write each other mushy cards, spend money on an expensive dinner, or say “I love you,” if you’re not at a full blown BF/GF status.
