Visiting the homeless on Valentine's Day is a meaningful way to show compassion and support for those who are struggling and lonely. and encourage others to get involved in efforts to help end We empower students and families to bring Valentine's Day to the homeless by (1) finding their schools and other organizations, (2) giving them a simple strategy to create boxes and cards and (3) matching their creations with homeless shelters and ministries in our areas of operation. It’s a word tossed around freely, especially during Valentine’s Day. Chocolates, roses, fancy dinners – a celebration of love in its many forms. But for many in our community, the reality of Valentine’s Day is far different. This year, let’s extend our love beyond traditional walls and embrace those often forgotten: our homeless While you’re spending the day with those you love, think about how you could help spread the love to those less fortunate this Valentine’s Day. Give the gift of love to those who need it most. Create a Care Package. Put together a few small packages with necessities like water, deodorant, a toothbrush, and a blanket. VISIT A SENIOR NEIGHBOR– stop by a neighbor and offer to help out with chores, cleanup or transportation. STUFF ‘LOVE BASKETS’ – Gather a group of friends and load up sacks with useful items to share with the homeless: warm socks, water bottles, phone cards, healthy snacks, etc. Spend Valentine’s Day giving them out in your community In the spirit of that command, here are 10 simple ways to love your neighbor this Valentine’s Day. 1. Volunteer at a local food pantry Help unpack and sort donations at your community food pantry, connecting people in need to nutritious meals.
