My husband bought me roses for our first Valentine’s Day together, and I was appalled by how expensive they were. I told him never to give me flowers for Valentine’s Day again. Instead he had to treat me like every day was Valentine’s Day. He does. I’m a lucky woman. This will be our 48th Valentine’s Day together. I've had mixed success with Costco's floral wholesale delivery. Without fail, it's a quality product- flowers are shipped within 2 days of the delivery window and once properly processed (flowers stems cut, put in warm water with the floral preservative and allowed to rehydrated) they do well. By January 1st it’s over $30. By Valentine’s Day, it’s $55-60. They go down a bit but stay elevated through Mother’s Day, and then drop through the summer. This was central California and was quite a few years ago, so wholesale prices may be off a bit. Also, most of our winter flowers were grown in Central and South America and flown in. If you can find one that has some sense, skip the general Valentine's Day experience altogether on actual Valentine's Day and do it on the 15th.
