if I break up with him the day before it will leave him feeling shit on valentine’s day and will make the break up much harder I could wait until after valentines day but then I will obviously be disingenuous and faking it over V day and the day/days following. If you break up before, Valentine's day will be extra sad for them, because they'll have been freshly dumped. If you break up after, then they'll be hurt you faked your way through Valentine's day, even though you knew you wanted to end things.
